11:00 am - Meet your guide and driver at the hotel’s lobby and start your sightseeing tour around one of the most magnificent Russian cities – it’s capital Moscow. Start your excursion from Manezhnaya square (Kutafya Tower of Kremlin).

Manezh Square is located near the Kremlin and the Alexander Garden. The name of the area comes from building an arena, built in 1817 in honor of the fifth anniversary of Russia's victory in the Patriotic War of 1812. It is worth saying that the name "Manezh" appeared only in 1937 after the demolition of standing in this place shopping areas of buildings, separated by a two-lane - patchwork and insatiable. Prior to that, the area was densely built up. In the nineties of the twentieth century under the Manege Square was built a large underground shopping complex "Ryad".

The first public park in Moscow, Alexander Garden sits along the Kremlin’s western wall. Colourful flower beds and impressive Kremlin views make it a favourite strolling spot for Muscovites and tourists alike. Back in the 17th century, the Neglinnaya River ran through the present gardens, with dams and mills along its banks. When the river was diverted underground, the garden was founded by architect Osip Bove, in 1821.

The garden is famous for its architectural monuments, incredibly beautiful flowerbeds and history. It commemorates Russian victories and those that died in war of 1812 with Napoleon and in both World Wars. Highlighted by Kremlin Kutafya Tower is the eternal flame memorial (in memory of the fallen heroes in World War II 1941-1945) and the big fountain with horse sculptures. They were created by popular Moscow architect Zereteli. In hot weather the fountain becomes a water attraction for teenagers.

Red Square - the most famous square in Moscow, architectural and historical monument, which, together with the Kremlin is a symbol of the Russian capital. In 1990, the complex of the Moscow Kremlin and Red Square were included in the list of world cultural composition Heritage by UNESCO.

Red Square originated in the late 15th century. In 1493, to stop the constant fires, Ivan III ordered to clean the walls of the Kremlin from the propped up their wooden buildings, and on the east side to arrange a big market.

The cathedral is a symmetrical ensemble of eight churches surrounding the central church, topped with a tent. Each of the eight churches is named after the saint, on whose day this or that significant event of the Kazan campaigns of Ivan the Terrible took place. There are nine iconostases in the cathedral, in which there are about 400 icons of the XVI – XIX centuries.

The architects who built the cathedral, the chronicle indicates some Barma and Postnik Yakovlev. However, there is a theory that in fact there was one master, Ivan Yakovlevich Barma, nicknamed Postnik for adherence to a strict post. There is a famous legend that, having seen a wonderful temple, Ivan the Terrible ordered to blind the masters so that they would not repeat their masterpiece anywhere else. But this is rather a myth, as Postnik’s name is later found in the annals in connection with the creation of other remarkable architectural monuments.

Christ the Savior Cathedral is the largest in the Russian Church, it is designed for ten thousand people. The modern building was built in 1994-1997 on the site of a temple demolished in 1937. The former church was erected in honor of the victory over the Napoleonic army and was built for almost forty-four years.

The decision to build the church “to commemorate our gratitude to the Providence of God who saved Russia from the death that threatened it” was taken by Emperor Alexander I in 1812. The temple was founded in 1839 on the site of the Alekseevskii nunnery. In 1883, it became the highest building in Moscow and the largest church in Russia. In 1931, the cathedral was blown up by order of Stalin. Rebuilt it only by the year 2000.

The Novodevichy Convent in Moscow (sometimes translated as the New Maidens’ Monastery) is one of the key Orthodox complexes that played a crucial role in the history of religion and public life of Russia. At the same time, this monastery is one of the most beautiful architectural monuments in the country, a true masterpiece of the 16th–17th centuries. The Novodevichy Convent and cemetery were proclaimed a UNESCO World Heritage Site as they are an outstanding example of Moscow Baroque architecture. The ancient, though still-active Smolensky Cathedral of the convent contains important Orthodox relics.

You have a stop near Poklonnaya Hill in Victory Park.

Poklonnaya (Bow) Hill is a notable place, connected with the various historical events in Russia. Once, this gently sloping hill was located far outside Moscow, and from its summit the spectacular view of the city opened. Travelers stopped there to have look at Moscow and bow to her: hence the name of the hill. It was on Poklonnaya Hill that Napoleon vainly waited for the keys to Moscow; it was there that the soldiers went to the front to defend the Motherland during WWII.

That is why Poklonnaya Hill became the symbol of Russia's victory over foreign aggressors. In connection with the past events the large memorial dedicated to the Victory in Great Patriotic War of 1941 – 1945 with a park, monuments, museums, and churches was created.

Only on February 23, 1958 Poklonnaya Hill received the memorial sign saying “There will be erected the monument in the honor of the Soviet people's victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945”; later the Victory Park was planted there.

Stop At: Triumphal Arch, Kutuzovskiy Prospekt near Poklonnaya Gora, Moscow Russia

The Triumphal Arch (architect - OI Bove, sculptors IT Timofeev, IP Vitali) was originally built in 1827-1834. on the Tverskaya Zavtava Square (at the Belorussky Railway Station). Restored on November 6, 1968 in a new place - on Kutuzov Avenue, on Victory Square near the Poklonnaya Hill and the Museum-Panorama “Battle of Borodino”. The Triumphal Arch is decorated with six pairs of cast-iron 2-meter columns, niches in which figures of Russian warriors are located, and above them are high reliefs depicting scenes of exile of the French, liberation of Moscow and others. Victory statues were erected above the eaves, and the chariot of Glory is located at the top of the arch: six beautiful harnessed horses. The Triumphal Arch is the main monument of the Patriotic War of 1812 in Moscow, a visible embodiment of the memory of the descendants of the heroes-winners.

About 2:30 pm the driver will pick you up and leads you to the ship pier. Take a seat on the open-air upper deck, or settle into one of the window-side seats in the fully-heated lower saloon area and enjoy a 2.5 hours Scenic River Cruise. The boat leaves the pier at 3:00 pm. We loved our guide and this tour!! Amazing!! We had such a great time touring the city of Moscow with our own private guide and driver. Made things so easy!! At the end she took us to where we got on the scenic river cruise which was also fabulous...Had the most delicious lunch and drinks!! Really fabulous....I highly recommend this tour!
