After morning pickup at select hotels or designated meeting location in Tokyo, relax as your deluxe coach cruises along a scenic 2.5-hour route to Mt Fuji Visitor Center. Learn about the history and geology of Japan’s highest mountain from your guide and the informational exhibits about the revered mountain. From the second floor observation deck, you can get great views of Mt Fuji on a clear day.
After seeing the Visitor Center, return to your coach and proceed to Mt Fuji’s 5th Station, located about halfway up the mountain at 7,545 feet (2,300m). Take in the shrines, torii gates and shops that sell souvenirs, along with views of Mt Fuji and the surrounding lakes (subject to weather conditions). Soak in the invigorating atmosphere of 5th Station; you might even spot some climbers preparing for their adventure. Then have time to enjoy Japanese-style lunch (if you select the "+ Lunch" option at checkout). Otherwise, you have the option to buy your own meal.
After having a bite to eat, drive to nearby Lake Ashi, located in Hakone National Park. Step aboard your boat for a short cruise across the lake. Admire the spectacular scenery of pristine waters surrounded by Mt Komagatake, Mt Fuji and other mountains.
Disembark from the boat and head to the Mt Komagatake Ropeway, an aerial tram that takes you from the shores of Lake Ashi to the top of Mt Komagatake. Have time to walk around the mountain top and take in amazing views of Lake Ashi, the Owakudani volcanic valley and majestic Mt Fuji.
After visiting Hakone, transfer by coach to the evening bullet train (Shinkansen) for your return to Tokyo, where your guide will tell you how to get back to your hotel.
Please note: Views around Mt Fuji are always subject to weather conditions as mountain weather is notoriously unpredictable. Visibility tends to be better during the colder months, in the early morning and late evening.

Very nice tour. Worth the price. Our guide Yumi, was very helpful, informative and very professional. We were able to go up to the 5th station which was a bonus. Japanese lunch was fine. Only negative i cam say is that the time to look around was too short.
Worth every penny - this was the cherry on top to our visit to Japan. Our tour guide was Joe, extremely funny, kind, entertaining and knowledgeable! Couldn't ask for a better guide. The tour did feel hurried at times though, as we hurried from activity to activity trying to make it on time - we didn't mind this at all as it meant that we got to do more activities, but I can see why some reviewers would feel rushed. All in all, highly recommended! Thanks, Joe and Viator, for a memorable trip!
The guide Hiro was hero! He was very professional organized and friendly. Amazing tour. Highly recommend
I was skeptical about this tour at first, mainly because it was my first time booking with Viator/TripAdvisor. However, all those fears washed away as soon as I stepped on the tour bus. Our tour guide, Mayumi-san, was excellent! She was knowledgeable and well-prepared, and we were fortunate enough to be seated near the front of the bus, where we had closer access to her. We did this tour on December 28, and the weather was perfect -- the skies were clear, and Mount Fuji was visible in all her glory. Due to the fact that it was winter, we were told that the road to the 5th station was icy, so we were only able to go up to the 4th station, which was still fine. My husband and I were excited because it was our first time in Japan, so it was a lot to soak in. After going up to the 4th station, we were taken to a restaurant at the foot of the mountain, where we still had a great view of this beauty. Next, we traveled to the dock near Lake Ashi, where we took a short boat ride. After that, we rode on a cable car/gondola, which took us up to a part of Hakone that gave us stunning views of Mount Fuji and Lake Ashi. We started this tour around 8:40 AM, and we were on our way to the train station by around 4 PM to catch the bullet train back to Tokyo. As recommended, we brought snacks and drinks just to make sure we wouldn't get hungry. Overall, we had a great experience on this tour, and highly recommend it.
A brilliant English speaking guide, very knowledgeable and helpful. A very carefully organised tour. At every point we were kept informed about what was going to happen. The coach was comfortable and very clean. Overall an excellent excursion. The view of Mount Fuji was breathtaking.
We are glad that we spent a day visiting Mt. Fuji and experienced the bullet train in Japan. Everything was well planned and followed. The tour guide Mr. Katsu was great and hospitable. The lunch was nice. We ate at a theme park and traditional Japanese food with tempura noodles was served. There are vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.
We were able to view Mt Fuji at a distance but due to road conditions, we only reached Station 1. Nevertheless, it was a good tour. Ellie our guide was delightful. She gave facts and insights which made the tour enjoyable. Also, she went out of her way to make me a sign that I could show restaurants written in Japanese about my allergy to sesame. That was unexpected but so welcome!
This was my first trip to Japan. With excellent experience with Viator in Europe I decided to book this tour. It was well organised trip. We could go only till 1st station at Mt. Fugi however we got good view of snow claden montian throughout our journey.Ashi lake ride was short and same was the case with Bullet train which lasted 20 mins. Cable car experience and view from the top of mountain ( I forgot name) was superb. Overall very good trip. Hotel near Ashi lake where we had stop could take care of my Vegeterian food needs. I would recommend this trip. Coach and guide quality ( English) was good.
This was a very long trip and I think they try to put too much into the one day excursion. My. Fuji was amazing, but it takes awhile to get there and then another 45 minutes to get to the lunch spot then another hour to get to Lake Ashli for a 10 minute boat ride to the rope swing where you wait in another line for a good 30 minutes. Too many tours and everyone arrives at the same spot at the same time creating multiple lines throughout the day. I really feel this should be 2 separate tours and more time spent in each location. Our guide spoke in Japanese English but we could totally understand her and she took the time to make sure everyone understood how to get to their hotels which was really nice. This tour needs to be better organ where not several busses arrive at the same place at the same time.
Everything about the organisation of the day was excellent, guide, bus, lunch, bullet train. The area was a tired relic of the past. Station 5 was nothing worth the experience, the cable car ride in Harmone was a relic and the area not worth a visit. The question was the trip worth it, Mount Fuji best viewed from afar, so the answer must be don’t bother.
