While in Tokyo, use the services of a professional local guide to customize your own sightseeing itinerary. Once you select a half-day or full-day tour to suit your schedule, you decide the pace of your day and how much you’d like to fit in. Explore at a leisurely pace on a guided walking tour, using the city’s efficient public transportation system to get you around. Or upgrade for a private vehicle to pick you up at your hotel. Then visit your choice of historic, cultural and culinary attractions in the vibrant capital. After you’ve seen the sights, your guide offers convenient drop-off at your hotel.
Half-day custom tour on foot or by private vehicle If you’ve selected a half-day tour upon booking, your guide can arrange a visit to several Tokyo attractions or city neighborhoods. Four hours allows plenty of time to learn how to pay a proper visit to Meiji Shrine, then try a few snacks or even go sake tasting if you wish (own expense). You might enjoy the amazing architecture and trendy shops of Harajuku, Omotesando and Shibuya neighborhoods, or head to Akihabara for electronics, video games and Japanese manga.
Full-day custom tour on foot or by private vehicle Eight hours of sightseeing allows you to take in even more of the city. Start with a visit to Tsukiji, the world’s largest wholesale fish and seafood market. Or perhaps head to downtown Tokyo and its fantastic museums, enjoying a bit of the old Tokyo that remains in the street food and traditional shops.
How about touring the Imperial Palace or Hamarikyu Garden, where you can appreciate the magnificent view while enjoying traditional sweets and green tea? See Koishikawa Korakuen Gardens, especially beautiful in the autumn, or Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, a mix of traditional Japanese and Western design.
During a restaurant lunch, get to know the many ingredients common to Japanese cuisine. At a sake brewery, learn how sake is made and try a few varieties (own expense).
No matter what your interests are, there’s always a great neighborhood to explore in Tokyo. Consider the upscale Ginza, a famous shopping district where fashion brands as well as shops selling Japanese swords, bonsai, kimonos and green tea can be found. Get a sense of Tokyo during the Edo period in Asakusa, or head to Shinjuku’s bright lights and hidden alleys, full of tiny bars with big personalities.
If you’d like, you can watch aikido or even take a lesson, or try your hand at a calligraphy class (own expense) — your wishes are the limit!

Not sure how to express just how much we enjoyed this tour. Our guide, Silvia, became a friend by the end of the day. We wanted her IN our pictures, not taking them of us. Because of some travel/life logistics we only had a couple days for our first visit to Tokyo (after 3 weeks in SE Asia) and we thought this tour would be the way to go. The price seemed steep at first but I assure you we received every penny and more in value! We saw so much of the city. Places and things someone on a big tour (or on their own) would never see. Using public transport is a great way to do it. You move around briskly without delays and really get a feel for the culture. We absolutely fell in love with the city and are already dreaming of our return. Meg (owner) and Silvia are a BIG reason why.
Thanks to Meg for a wonderful day out in Tokyo.
We gave her our itinerary and she worked the timings so that we did everything we wanted and then some.
Even managed to fit in a journey on the bullet train......thankfully the day before the typhoon !
Would highly recommend
Meg did a fantastic job meeting us at our hotel and taking us to the sites we selected. She helped us learn to use the subways and trains. We had a wonderful sukiyaki lunch, visited a shrine and a temple. Her English was great and she explained how we could accomplish our other travel goals. We would highly recommend her to family and friends. She was everything we hoped for.
Booking this tour with Meg was the best decision we made. This tour was our favorite tour that we did during our trip. Meg tailored the tour to our specific interests and was so knowledgeable about all of the questions we had about Tokyo. On our next trip to Japan, we plan to contact Meg for another tour. We learned so much and had a fantastic time.
Our guide, Meg, made this entire day one that we will never forget. She is knowledgeable about every aspect of life in Tokyo and took care of us in an exceptional way. Not only did she guide us but she took photos for us throughout the day. At her suggestion we ended our tour with a street festival that we would have never known existed. One of the best tour experiences we have ever had!
We were very fortunate to have Aya as our guide for our visit to Tokyo. She’s a GEM! In addition to visiting tourist sites, shrines, temples, and the royal garden we wanted to see the “real” Tokyo, so Aya guided us through neighborhoods visiting small shops and eateries, engaging us in banter with the clerks and trades people. Her English is excellent and she enjoyed sharing the history and background of what we were seeing. It was a fine day and an outstanding beginning to our vacation in Japan.
This was a private tour of tokyo with Yoshi san. I highly recommend this as it was custom and we picked the top attractions to our liking. The tour was relaxed and tour guide was knowledgeable answering all our questions.
We really enjoyed the entire tour we bought the private tour with private transportation, the car was really nice and clean, driver was cool and on time and place every single time, our guide was friendly and cool, he took us to a lots of great places, he answered all questions, learned us about trains lines and how to get to destinations smoothly, suggested to us few places for the rest days we’re going to be in Tokyo, really recommend this tour for people whos visiting tokyo for the first time.
Yoshi is a very good guide
He was prompt and very helpful
Weather was very hot and muggy so we skipped the walk in the gardens but otherwise it’s a good tour to experience japan at your own pace.
You can tailor the trip to what you like and spend as much time as you like in each location
Fish market, Meiji shrine and Harajuku are the best
The hi end shopping Omotesando is overrated but it’s what they have there,
Shibuya crossing is a must see
Aya is a perfect tour guide. she came to the hotel on time.
She is an expert in directions, exits and entrances, but we spend most of the time moving from metro to another metro. After booking the tour, the orgainzer sent an email contained a lot of choices to choose four of them. Most of the choices were malls and shopping streets !! so you can visit them alone. I told them I like history so we decided to visit 4 places: Meiji Jingu, a Buddhist temple and Odaiba (shopping mall), the fourth place I don't remember it because we couldn't visit it because we don't have time !! I asked them to visit imperial palace but they told me it isn't allowed for us to enter it you can see it from the outside !!. Forget any thing was written in the description of this tour about visiting imperial palace. the restaurant was a Japanese restaurant and was very good, but we spend a lot of time in the restaurant. I finished my food and Aya too but we didn't move, actually I don't know why, which waste our time and we couldn't visit the fourth place. At least Aya was a nice person so I will give these two points to Aya. My advice save your money and time and do it on your own.
Experience the best of Tokyo on foot or by car during a private, customized tour with a knowledgeable local guide. Choose a half-day or full-day itinerary, tailored to your particular interests. See Tokyo highlights, from shrines and museums to the world’s largest fish market - Tsukiji Market, or explore distinct neighborhood shops, visit a sake brewery and sample Japanese cuisine. Public transportation fares via train and subway are included if you select a walking tour, or upgrade for a hotel transfer and travel in the comfort of a private vehicle throughout the dynamic capital.
