While in Tokyo, use the services of a professional local guide to customize your own sightseeing itinerary. Once you select a half-day or full-day tour to suit your schedule, you decide the pace of your day and how much you’d like to fit in. Explore at a leisurely pace on a guided walking tour, using the city’s efficient public transportation system to get you around. Or upgrade for a private vehicle to pick you up at your hotel. Then visit your choice of historic, cultural and culinary attractions in the vibrant capital. After you’ve seen the sights, your guide offers convenient drop-off at your hotel.
Half-day custom tour on foot or by private vehicle If you’ve selected a half-day tour upon booking, your guide can arrange a visit to several Tokyo attractions or city neighborhoods. Four hours allows plenty of time to learn how to pay a proper visit to Meiji Shrine, then try a few snacks or even go sake tasting if you wish (own expense). You might enjoy the amazing architecture and trendy shops of Harajuku, Omotesando and Shibuya neighborhoods, or head to Akihabara for electronics, video games and Japanese manga.
Full-day custom tour on foot or by private vehicle Eight hours of sightseeing allows you to take in even more of the city. Start with a visit to Tsukiji, the world’s largest wholesale fish and seafood market. Or perhaps head to downtown Tokyo and its fantastic museums, enjoying a bit of the old Tokyo that remains in the street food and traditional shops.
How about touring the Imperial Palace or Hamarikyu Garden, where you can appreciate the magnificent view while enjoying traditional sweets and green tea? See Koishikawa Korakuen Gardens, especially beautiful in the autumn, or Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, a mix of traditional Japanese and Western design.
During a restaurant lunch, get to know the many ingredients common to Japanese cuisine. At a sake brewery, learn how sake is made and try a few varieties (own expense).
No matter what your interests are, there’s always a great neighborhood to explore in Tokyo. Consider the upscale Ginza, a famous shopping district where fashion brands as well as shops selling Japanese swords, bonsai, kimonos and green tea can be found. Get a sense of Tokyo during the Edo period in Asakusa, or head to Shinjuku’s bright lights and hidden alleys, full of tiny bars with big personalities.
If you’d like, you can watch aikido or even take a lesson, or try your hand at a calligraphy class (own expense) — your wishes are the limit!

Yoshinobu Kurashina was very good. He customized our tour and even made last minute requested changes. He also was very knowledgeable of Tokyo and its history. He was a pleasure to hang out with for the day. We highly recommend his services.
This tour is a great way to see some of the major sites in Tokyo. Our guide Yoshi was very knowledgeable, spoke fluent English, and very accommodating. This tour is also a great way to learn how to use the Japan rail system to get to all parts of the city. I would highly recommend this tour, and our guide Yoshi.
Our guide, Mitch, made sure we got to see Asakusa, the Meiji Shrine, and Harajuku. Weather was a bit hot so we ended a bit early and I wish we'd chosen the private transportation option, but we got to see cherry blossoms and do some shopping. Also tried Japanese fried chicken with soba!!
Tokyo In A Day tour gave my family a great overview of Tokyo. Yoshi, our guide was excellent. Showed us great views of Tokyo plus taught us the history of Japan.
Our guide Misa was amazing. My son and I had a private tour using public transportation. We rode the Metro all day and we’re able to visit all the places my son wanted to see. Misa did such a good job that we were able to navigate the Metro ourselves the next day. She advised us of the history of all the areas we visited and had answers to all of our questions. My son is already preparing for our next trip.
Silvia was amazing!! She ensured we had fun, saw a lot but didn't seemed rushed. We saw gardens, explored the fish market, stopped for a cool treat at the Nissan showroom, ate lunch at a great ramen restaurant, went to Ueno park, went through Yanaka area and cemetery, went to a cat cafe and walked through Harajuku. Before she picked us up at the hotel, she already got our 24 hour subway passes; she was so prepared. It was an extremely hot day and she ensured we were comfortable and even bought some cooling towels for us. I felt like she took great care of us and made sure we enjoyed ourself. This was our favorite tour of our trip to Japan!!! I would do this again in a heartbeat!!
I loved our tour and our guide , he explained everything and it was easy to go to different places, taught the way to use the metro card , and show all we asked for.
Mitch, our guide was very accommodating. We also liked that he was suggesting how to maximize our time and effort given we had 2 family members who tended to tire easily. We had a most enjoyable experience with this private custom tokyo tour :) Thank you!!
Yoshi is a very good guide
He was prompt and very helpful
Weather was very hot and muggy so we skipped the walk in the gardens but otherwise it’s a good tour to experience japan at your own pace.
You can tailor the trip to what you like and spend as much time as you like in each location
Fish market, Meiji shrine and Harajuku are the best
The hi end shopping Omotesando is overrated but it’s what they have there,
Shibuya crossing is a must see
Aya is a perfect tour guide. she came to the hotel on time.
She is an expert in directions, exits and entrances, but we spend most of the time moving from metro to another metro. After booking the tour, the orgainzer sent an email contained a lot of choices to choose four of them. Most of the choices were malls and shopping streets !! so you can visit them alone. I told them I like history so we decided to visit 4 places: Meiji Jingu, a Buddhist temple and Odaiba (shopping mall), the fourth place I don't remember it because we couldn't visit it because we don't have time !! I asked them to visit imperial palace but they told me it isn't allowed for us to enter it you can see it from the outside !!. Forget any thing was written in the description of this tour about visiting imperial palace. the restaurant was a Japanese restaurant and was very good, but we spend a lot of time in the restaurant. I finished my food and Aya too but we didn't move, actually I don't know why, which waste our time and we couldn't visit the fourth place. At least Aya was a nice person so I will give these two points to Aya. My advice save your money and time and do it on your own.
