This tour was wonderful. Food was great. Ryan made the tour fun and his knowledge about food and traditions just enhanced the experience.
I would recommend this tour especially with Ryan as your guide!!!
We had Ryu as our guide and he was fantastic! The group was small so it was easy to maneuver through the streets. He had lots of cultural information about the area and the food we were tasting. Ryu ordered and paid for everyone at each stop and always asked what our preferences were individually. We started at an Izakaya place with delicious grilled skewers and a cold beer, then on to a ramen place, followed by a sushi restaurant. The sushi restaurant allowed smoking inside which I didn’t care for but locals and businessmen were dining there so you got the full cultural experience. I missed the last bar stop for drinking because I had to leave but I got a nice follow up message the next day from Ryu. We had also stopped at Don Quixote and he he gave us a rundown of the highlights of the store. I really had a lot of food to eat and felt Ryu cared about our enjoyment.
This tour was a great introduction to Japan and the Japanese food culture. Satoshi was a fantastic guide and he took us to some amazing spots in Memory Lane and Golden Gai where the food was delicious and plentiful! He was also very knowledgable about the history of Japanese food and the different places we visited. I would highly recommend this tour! Satoshi, arigato gozaimashita!
Alex, thanks for the great tour! We enjoyed the company, food, and education. Our family's third trip to Japan, and still learning. We like to use food tours as a way to scope out the food scene in the area. We thoroughly enjoyed the Izakaya, Sushi Restaurant, and Golden Gai bar we went to with Alex. We will definitely use Arigato Tours again!
We went on 10-10-18 and Lora was our guide. It was a lot of fun. We did the Shibuya tour on our last trip. And this one was also great. It’s a good idea to do it in the beginning of your trip so that you have some food ideas to explore. Our host was Lora. She shared some great tips, was easy to talk to, and took pictures of us. This tour is worth it to learn some cool things and eat yummy food!
Sean was an excellent host and guide. The food was in small portions but each piece was better than the last piece. It was 5 in my group and a couple, who were from my hometown of Washington DC, so we were quite the eclectic group. As with all my viator tours, I highly recommend this food tour. Especially if you enjoy fresh fresh sushi!!!
Had an amazing time with our guide Aiko and met people from around the world. I highly recommend this tour.
Great Experience. Tour guide was cool and helpful. Visited a number of spots we'll want to check out on our next trip to Japan. Would definitely reccommend!
This was a really cool experience. Our guide was nice enough to wait until we found the meet up location then proceeded to show us a side of Tokyo we wouldn't normally experience along with cool restaurants to try different foods. We'd definitely do this again.
Great tour of the old part of the city . Guide Asami was very friendly and informative.
The location is interesting with very small bars and very minimal guests
Was a good way to start off our Tokyo trip, would reccomend to others !
Experience Tokyo’s bustling culinary back streets and try several delicious Japanese foods: sushi, yakitori (skewers), as well as classic RAMEN! (on everyone’s MUST TRY LIST).
Start by walking through Omoide Yokocho. Filled with rustic food stalls and bars from the 1950s, you will feel as if you stepped back in time to the middle of the 20th century. We will have a drink together and some skewers in one of the most charming parts of Tokyo; giving you a very authentic feeling of Japan as you dine with locals.
Then we will make our way to Kabukicho, Asia’s largest yet safest, red-light district. Learn more about this famous area as your guide explains Japanese izakaya culture, the amazing world of karaoke bars and the famous Robot restaurant, as well as other hidden gems. You will enjoy Ramen before we head to a local sushi restaurant. We will end our tour with a ramble through the back drinking alleys at Golden Gai (Tokyo’s most popular spot for unique tiny bars, and pub-nightlife).
