As our flight home to Australia was not until 10.00pm after disembarking our cruise ship in the morning, a full day car and driver was a far better option than a 4-hour ship excursion which was likely to visit only a couple of sites and leave us at the airport early afternoon for a long wait for our flight. Our driver Oriol far exceeded our expectations. After telling him what we had already seen on ship tours and what our general interests were, he tailored a really special day for us - lovely parks, gardens and less-known temples and interesting areas of Tokyo, a great spot for lunch, cheaper shopping than what we had experienced off the ship, and great conversations about life in Japan along the way, finally dropping us at the airport in the evening. Definitely recommended.
Our guide was terrific! He showed us so much of Tokyo, places we would never have found on our own. He was also very patient in letting us have the time needed at each stop. Would definitely recommend for first timers in this incredible city.
This private tour was an excellent introduction to the modern and sprawling city, Tokyo. I have never experienced such a vast city with so many different personalities. One of the plus points of this tour was to escape July's heat and humidity to a comfortable vehicle with an attentive driver between sights. In addition, the suggested itinerary worked out very well and I will be making a return visit to Tokyo with no doubt. Thank you for gifting us a good impression of Tokyo.
Our guide Oriol (from Spain but spoke very good English and Japanese) picked us up at our Airbnb in a very nice and clean BMW 7-series stocked with water. Aside from the suggested itinerary, he was very open to customizing the day to fit our interest and energy level. We were dropped off at very convenient locations for each stop, then picked up at same or equally convenient location. We wanted sushi for lunch, so he took us to a nice place in Tsukiji Market for some very fresh tuna. At the end of the day, he even dropped us off at the restaurant where we had separately booked a reservation for dinner. Wow. All in all, the experience was beyond our expectation.
Our driver, Guy, was great.......we visited many sites during our one day adventure..he tried to fit in all he could......we love it! We do not hesitate in givng him a top rating! Book this tour if you want to visit a lot of places, in a short amount of time.
Guy our tour guide was amazing his love of Tokyo was contagious and his happy and positive nature was everything we could have wished, to be honest I wish hadn't wasted my time on other tours who were not interested and just booked him for a second day.
So Guy picked us up from our accommodation on time, opened all the doors and chatted away happily about all the areas we were interested in, We were travelling with two teenagers so he asked if we would like to make it back to the restaurant where Kill Bill was filmed highlight indeed
The first stop was the Tsukji Fish Market, we were luck enough be one of the last to see this at its old location, he gave us some wonderful tips and told us to take our time loved this never looking at this watch and that he would be were we left him he also gave us his portable WIFI another massive high with teenagers. The fish market was amazing and never once did we worry about time!!
Next stop Guy changed about our intinerary as he was concered since it was a Saturday we should do the Sky Tree before the lines get to long. Again he found us a close drop off and said see you when your ready. Because of his decision to take us here first we certainly didn't wait in line for a long time and the photos from this location were fantastic.
Again Guy was there when we were finished and he took us off the the Sensoji Temple this was literally breath taking Guy offered some advice about getting on and when we jumped out the car he opens all the doors he asked if we would like him to get some water for us!! I mean he was truly a private tour offering care and consideration. We wandered the small shops on the way to the temple and he had educated us on the prayer ritual so we were able to really enjoy this temple at our own time.
We did a quick trip to the Edo Museum but to be honest the afternoon was the highlight for the kids, lunch at Gonpachi Kill Bill filmed here he dropped us to the front and was there when we had enjoyed some fabulous skewers Japanese style. Guy never once looked at this watch and or tried to give an end time for this tour so he took us off Shibuya and the busiest crossing in the world.
We spent lots of time here, he told us the best vantage points and said take as long as you need I will be here when your ready. Shibuya is simply buzzing and knowing this amazing guide was waiting for us we ventured into the side roads and checked out the food and love hotels he has explained to us in the car.
We feel like we won the lotto getting this guide, he is simply such a nice guy who loves Japan, has a wealth of information and nothing was an issue for him.
I would suggest that he offers far more than some of the higher cost tours and we should know as we had a terribly disappointing experience with another tour at twice the price.
This tour you choose what you wish to see and he makes sure your day is something to remember. From our family he is by far the best tour guide we have ever encountered and would highly recommend him to anyone thinking of travelling to Japan.
Guy also gave us some great ideas for our off days and without him we would not have had the special experience we ended up having in Japan.
Thanks Guy you are certainly the best tour guide ever!!!!!!!
Guy would have received 5 stars had he brought an SUV and not a sedan for 4 adults. It was quite a tight squeeze and there was not bottled water for guests. we travel a lot and tend to do a lot of private tours too. We are used to having or being offered bottled water.
Apart from the above, Guy is a good and knowledgeable driver and knows the right places to take you. He's also very careful. I would recommend him and hope he'll take note of the corrections. Will actually book him again while hoping the little changes will be made.
in all, great person and nice tour- just get the appropriate sized vehicle for the number of people so they are more comfortable since this is part of the essence of a private tour
