Why go
This compact route suits a first visit focused on the old town rather than the newer districts. Start in Place Richelme for the produce-market setting, then compare the town hall façade and adjoining clock tower with the domestic objects inside the Musée du Vieil Aix. Continue north to Saint-Sauveur, where different architectural styles show the cathedral's long development. The museum gives the walk its main indoor pause; the squares and cathedral keep the rest varied. Add the nearby Musée des Tapisseries if woven stories and the former archbishop's rooms appeal, allowing a separate afternoon visit if needed.
