Temple of Minerva
The Roman Temple of Minerva survives on Piazza del Comune as the monumental façade of a later Christian church. Its ancient columns make the layered history of Assisi visible at the centre of town.
The columns of the Temple of Minerva make Roman Assisi visible in the middle of Piazza del Comune. The structure later became part of a Christian church, so one façade carries two long chapters of the town’s history. Pause here before exploring the forum below the square to connect the street-level monument with the Roman remains.
