Georgia State Capitol
Atlanta's working state capitol pairs nineteenth-century architecture with exhibits of Georgia history. Visit for the building and museum collections, while planning around its role as an active government site.
The Capitol makes Georgia's state government visible in the middle of Downtown. From Washington Street, look at the broad portico and Corinthian columns; inside, the museum's flags, artworks and other artifacts add context to the building's civic role. Its 1889 completion also makes it a strong contrast with the modern towers farther north.
