Westhaven Marina

A vast recreational marina beneath Auckland Harbour Bridge, edged by a public promenade with close views of yachts, water and city infrastructure.

Westhaven Marina

Why go

Westhaven makes Auckland’s sailing culture tangible without requiring a boat trip. The promenade threads between rows of masts, yacht clubs and working marine facilities, then opens toward the harbour bridge. It is quieter and more spacious than the Viaduct, with sunrise, evening light and moving boats providing the main interest.

What to look for

  • Dense lines of masts create one of Auckland’s clearest ‘City of Sails’ views.
  • The harbour bridge rises immediately beyond the western marina basin.

Useful to know

  • Follow the public promenade and respect gated pontoons reserved for berth holders.
  • Start at Wynyard Quarter and walk west, returning before exposed sections become uncomfortable in strong wind.
