Why go

Candidasa works best as a quiet base rather than a single attraction. The shoreline is heavily altered, but the lotus lagoon and views toward small offshore islands give the town a distinct setting. Its real advantage is position: Tenganan, Tirta Gangga and the eastern coast are easier to combine from here.

• A lotus-filled lagoon sits immediately beside the main road through town.
• Breakwaters and offshore islets reveal the coast's long struggle with erosion.
• Karangasem villages and water palaces lie within the broader East Bali orbit.

Useful to know

• Check the exact beach access near your stop; much of the town's original shoreline has narrowed or disappeared.
• Use Candidasa as a base for one or two named East Bali outings instead of expecting a dense walkable sights district.
