Why go
Sanur is strongest in the morning, when sunrise lights the coast and the promenade links beaches, cafés and boat activity. The reef-protected water often feels gentler than Kuta's surf. Its proximity to Denpasar also makes it practical for combining beach time with museums or city temples.
What to look for
- A paved seafront path connects several named beaches along the lagoon.
- Traditional jukung outriggers rest in shallow water inside the reef.
- Early light looks toward Nusa Penida and Mount Agung on clear mornings.
Useful to know
- Start early for cooler walking and better sunrise light along the east-facing coast.
- Check tide levels before planning a swim, since the broad lagoon becomes very shallow at low water.
