Getting Around Barbados
Use Bridgetown as a key connection point when planning trips across Barbados. Buses and route vans serve different journeys, while a car or taxi can simplify an itinerary with scattered stops.
The island's road network radiates from Bridgetown, so a journey between places outside the capital may involve a connection there. Public transport includes buses and privately operated route vehicles, including ZR vans. Driving offers more control over stop order, but traffic keeps to the left. Decide on the day's route before choosing transport, especially when combining coastal places with inland stops.
Useful to know
Check current routes, fares and last departures before relying on a bus or van for the return journey.
Allow for a change in Bridgetown when planning a public transport trip between areas on different sides of the island.
If driving, plan for left-side traffic and confirm the current rules with the rental provider.
