Crane Beach
Crane Beach places pale sand beneath the cliffs of St Philip. Come for the southeast-coast scenery, and judge surf conditions on the day before swimming.
Crane Beach is worth the trip for sand curving below the raised coast. The cliffs give it a different feel from the low west-coast beaches, and the shore can be enjoyed without entering the water. The Atlantic-facing side may have stronger surf and changing currents. Walk the public approach carefully, keep clear of unstable edges and check local flags or lifeguard advice before swimming. Access routes can change, so confirm the way down before visiting.
