Eibar
Eibar is an industrial town squeezed into the mountainous Ego valley. Its appeal is arms-making history, surviving historic buildings and the sharp contrast between the built-up centre and Arrate's mountain setting.

Arms manufacture has shaped Eibar since the sixteenth century, and the narrow valley helps explain the town's concentrated development. San Andrés and the historic palaces offer an architectural counterpoint to that industrial identity. Above the centre, Arrate sanctuary brings the surrounding hills into a visit focused on the relationship between work and terrain.
What to look for
San Andrés church contains a Renaissance altarpiece.
Markeskua and Unzueta palaces preserve earlier layers of the town.
The town hall was built over the Ego River.
Useful to know
Separate a centre walk from an Arrate outing; the sanctuary belongs to the mountain landscape above town.
Combine Arrate sanctuary with nearby paths if you want walking as well as urban history.
