Why go
Knowing the terminal before departure lets you plan the last subway, bus or taxi connection. It also prevents confusion between similarly translated station names on the far side of a very large capital. Use that framework to shape the day first, then confirm any current fare, timetable, ticket or access rule with its operator.
The full story
Intercity and regional buses do not converge on one central terminal. The departure city, operator and route determine where you arrive, and that terminal may sit well outside the historic core. Record the full Chinese station name and address before boarding. On arrival, confirm the nearest subway station and whether it is reachable without crossing a highway-scale road or carrying luggage through a long passage. Service patterns, terminal assignments and ticketing systems can change, so current operator information matters more than an old route list. Late arrivals need special care because local connections may be less frequent. If someone is meeting you, share the exact terminal and gate rather than only saying Beijing bus station. Build the onward plan around the real arrival point, not the city center shown on a guide map.
Useful to know
- Save the complete terminal name and address in Chinese.
- Check the final local connection before boarding, especially for an evening arrival.
