Why go
Tian'anmen Square, the Palace Museum and Jingshan Park form the clearest single narrative of central Beijing. Begin with the civic scale of the square, continue through the palace's south-to-north ceremonial sequence, and finish above the tiled roofs at Jingshan. That progression makes the historic axis visible from ground level and from above. Trying to include every nearby landmark is too ambitious, so keep these three anchors essential and treat Yonghe Temple, the Confucius Temple or National Museum as separate choices.
Useful to know
- Reserve timed sites first, then fit the open park around them.
- Do not attempt every listed stop; one major museum or temple is enough as an optional extension.
