Why go
This crossing makes the shift from old Belgrade to Novi Beograd tangible. The present bridge replaced the King Aleksandar I Bridge destroyed in 1941, yet parts of the earlier bridge's pylons remain in the structure. Look for that older stonework as well as the broad Sava span.
What to look for
- Older pylons from the King Aleksandar I Bridge remain at the edges of the present crossing.
- Two parallel bridge structures carry traffic across the Sava.
- The crossing links central Belgrade directly with Novi Beograd.
Useful to know
- If you intend to cross on foot, check current pedestrian access and closures before setting out.
- Use the riverbank as a viewing point if your interest is the older pylons rather than the crossing itself.
