Sava River
The Sava meets the Danube at Belgrade and divides the older city from Novi Beograd. Visit for the river views, especially the confluence seen from Kalemegdan.
Why go
Belgrade's position makes more sense when you see its two rivers meet. From the fortress overlook, the Sava runs in from one side and joins the Danube below. A bank walk offers a slower, closer view of the water and of the city built on either side.
What to look for
The Sava and Danube meet below the Kalemegdan fortress overlook.
Novi Beograd lies across the Sava from the older city.
Useful to know
Choose a specific riverbank or the Kalemegdan overlook for a Sava view.
Combine the confluence view with a walk through the fortress grounds.
