St Mark's Church
St Mark's Church rises beside Tašmajdan Park near Serbia's parliament. It is a worthwhile central stop for its large Orthodox interior and the historic tombs and mosaics inside.
Why go
Built in the 1930s, the church is easy to combine with a walk through the civic center. Its mosaic icon above the entrance prepares you for the interior, where marble fittings and the tomb of Emperor Stefan Dušan give the vast space specific points of focus. The nearby small Russian church adds a useful contrast.
What to look for
A mosaic of St Mark sits above the entrance.
Emperor Stefan Dušan's marble tomb stands inside the church.
A small Russian Orthodox church is nearby in Tašmajdan Park.
Useful to know
Combine the church with Tašmajdan Park and the National Assembly area.
Check current church guidance before entering during worship.
