The full story
The Berlin WelcomeCard is a visitor pass that combines travel on the local public-transport network with discounts at participating attractions and businesses. Versions differ by validity period and fare-zone coverage, so the first decision is whether the trip includes Berlin Brandenburg Airport or Potsdam as well as central Berlin. The pass is most useful when its transport component matches the journeys you would buy anyway and several planned attractions offer meaningful discounts. It is less compelling for a compact walking itinerary, for travelers eligible for other concessions or when most chosen museums require separate timed tickets. Compare the current pass price with ordinary VBB fares and the exact discounts on your own itinerary before purchase. Participation and prices can change, so use the official product list rather than an old attraction directory. Keep reservations separate: a discount pass does not necessarily guarantee entry or replace advance booking.
Useful to know
- Confirm current prices, opening patterns and service changes with the relevant official provider before travel.
- Group plans by district and use the rail network for longer cross-city connections.
