San Antón Bridge
Cross this historic estuary link between Casco Viejo and Bilbao La Vieja for a close view of San Antón Church. The bridge and church appear together on Bilbao's coat of arms.
The crossing recalls a time when this was Bilbao's sole bridge and merchants used it to move goods between Biscay and Castile. Its position beside San Antón Church explains why the two became a civic emblem. Walk across, then look back at the pairing from the opposite bank.
