Walking the Historic Center
A downtown walk links the Gold Museum, La Candelaria and Plaza de Bolívar through changing streets and slopes. Museum interiors make the outing fuller and demand more time.
The pleasure of this walk lies between its anchors: Avenida Jiménez’s Eje Ambiental, Parque de los Periodistas and the climb toward Chorro de Quevedo lead into La Candelaria’s houses. Calle 11 then descends past the Botero Museum toward the civic square and presidential quarter.
Useful to know
Allow for the uphill approach to Chorro de Quevedo and the downhill return along Calle 11.
Prioritize the Gold Museum, Chorro de Quevedo, Botero Museum and Plaza de Bolívar if time is limited.
Add Palacio de San Francisco, Parque de los Periodistas, García Márquez center or the presidential quarter as time allows.
