Why go
Commissioned by Count Odoardo Pepoli in the seventeenth century, the palace makes the room decoration part of the attraction. Frescoes by artists including Giuseppe Maria Crespi and Donato Creti surround a collection shaped by the former Zambeccari holdings. It is a different experience from the medieval history museum at Palazzo Pepoli Vecchio.
What to look for
- Frescoes depict subjects including Hercules and Alexander’s Gordian knot.
- The rooms were designed as part of a seventeenth-century aristocratic palace.
- The historic collection draws in part on the Quadreria Zambeccari.
Useful to know
- Use the full name and Via Castiglione address to distinguish it from Palazzo Pepoli Vecchio.
- Verify gallery opening and room access before committing time to an interior visit.
