Santuario di San Luca
The hilltop sanctuary pairs a city panorama with Bologna's long Portico di San Luca. The covered ascent is memorable but asks for more effort than a central church visit.
Walk beneath the portico if you want to understand why this sanctuary is tied so closely to Bologna: the arcade protected the revered Marian icon during processions between city and hill. At the top, the church and its setting on Colle della Guardia turn that story into a visible journey. The panorama gives a second reward after the climb.
What to look for
The Portico di San Luca makes the approach a continuous covered passage.
