Coronation Streets to the Danube

Trace Bratislava’s royal past from St Martin’s Cathedral and Michael’s Gate through the city museum, then continue across Hviezdoslavovo námestie toward the river.

Coronation Streets to the Danube

Why go

Start at St Martin’s Cathedral, then follow the coronation story toward Michael’s Gate and the Bratislava City Museum in Old Town Hall. Walk the full length of Hviezdoslavovo námestie to the historic Slovak National Theatre. From there, decide whether to continue east toward Comenius University and Apollo Bridge or preserve time for the elevated Slavín memorial. The bridge and Slavín lie in different directions and add considerable distance. Treat the unresolved Pálffy and government-palace entries as optional exterior context, while the clearly identified City Gallery branch is the stronger indoor choice.
