Ancient Levant, Room 59

Room 59 belongs to the Ancient Levant group shared with Rooms 57 and 58. Its account covers the eastern Mediterranean through 539 BC, bringing Canaanite, Israelite, Phoenician, Amorite and Aramaean histories into view. Follow the place and date attached to a group of objects. The regional title gathers communities whose relationships changed over centuries. Material from the Amarna correspondence, displayed in the wider group, links local rulers with the Egyptian court. That contact places one part of the Levant within a larger political world.
