Armour, painted screens, ceramics and religious images appear across the Japan galleries in Rooms 92, 93 and 94. Together they follow a history from prehistory to the present, with exchanges beyond Japan alongside the lives of rulers and ordinary people.
Start with a material or a small group within the display. A screen shapes a space, while armour has to relate to a moving body. The three rooms belong to one gallery group, so your comparison can continue across them. Keep the dates of individual works in view as you explore.
