Japan, Room 94

Look at how an object relates to a body or a room. Armour, a screen and a religious figure ask for different scales of attention. All appear within the Japan gallery group shared by Rooms 92, 93 and 94, whose displays reach from prehistory to the present. The figure of Fudo Myo-o belongs to the combined gallery’s religious sculpture. Other works concern rulers, daily life and international exchange. Choose one of those subjects for a short visit, following the place, date and purpose of individual objects as you move through the group.
