Using the Cairo Metro
The metro links useful parts of Cairo, including central stations and districts such as Dokki and Maadi. It is most helpful when a station lies near your actual destination.
Why go
For a journey through central Cairo, the metro can avoid a long road segment. Sadat serves the Tahrir area, while other stations connect different parts of the city. The key decision is the last leg: even a trip toward the pyramids requires onward transport after leaving the train.
Useful to know
Check the current route map for your interchange and destination station before entering.
Allow a separate road or walking connection for sights beyond the stations, especially the Giza pyramids.
Follow station signs for train direction and any designated carriages.
