Great Pyramid of Giza
Khufu’s pyramid is the largest of the three at Giza and the surviving Ancient Wonder. Its exterior and internal passage offer very different ways to understand it.
Why go
From outside, the exposed stone core and remains of the wider complex show how the monument was built and placed among temples and smaller pyramids. An interior visit follows confined passages through the Grand Gallery toward the King’s Chamber; decide in advance whether that extra experience is a priority.
What to look for
Notice the contrast between the rough visible core and traces of former smooth casing.
Follow the Grand Gallery toward the King’s Chamber if entering the pyramid.
Look for subsidiary pyramids and tombs around Khufu’s main monument.
Useful to know
Decide on the interior before visiting; access requires a separate ticket in addition to plateau entry.
Pair the exterior with the surrounding Khufu complex to see more than the pyramid’s silhouette.
