Why go
Start with Stephen Avenue and the downtown core for buildings and public spaces, then follow the Bow River toward Eau Claire or cross into a neighbourhood such as Inglewood. The city also works as a base for mountain trips, but its riverfront, cultural sites and Stampede traditions give you reasons to spend time in Calgary itself.
What to look for
- The Bow River separates parts of the central grid and shapes several riverside walks.
- The Beltline sits south of downtown; Chinatown and East Village are distinct central districts.
Useful to know
- Check the quadrant suffix on an address: the same numbered street or avenue may exist in more than one part of Calgary.
- Group downtown and riverfront stops on foot; plan a separate transfer for farther neighbourhoods.
