Why go
Start at the Calgary Zoo, then walk into Inglewood for its main street. Continue to Esker Foundation for contemporary art; together, these three stops make a full but manageable day. If time and access allow, add The Confluence for the Bow and Elbow river setting and historic-site exhibits. The zoo takes the largest share of the day, so shorten the Inglewood browse if you want a second indoor visit. Check current access at The Confluence before counting on its exhibits, and treat that final stop as optional.

Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo
Calgary's zoo combines animal habitats with an indoor conservatory on a large riverside site. It deserves a substantial visit rather than a quick look between downtown stops.

The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland
The former Fort Calgary site sits where the Bow and Elbow rivers meet. Exhibits and parkland connect the North-West Mounted Police fort with deeper Blackfoot history.
