Fish Creek Provincial Park
A long creek valley cuts across southern Calgary, with trails, Bow Valley Ranch and a Bow River connection. Pick one section for a manageable outing.
Why go
Fish Creek offers a genuine shift from city streets to creekside paths, wooded stretches and open river corridor. The park spans much of south Calgary, so its scale is part of the decision: Bow Valley Ranch, a central trail segment or the Bow River end each makes a different walk. Sikome's swimming area is a separate seasonal facility.
What to look for
The Fish Creek valley carries trails through varied parkland.
Bow Valley Ranch gives the park a named historical focal point.
The eastern corridor meets the Bow River.
Useful to know
Choose a trailhead or day-use area before travelling; a full cross-park walk is a major undertaking.
Check Alberta Parks advisories for trail detours and wildlife notices.
Check the seasonal day-use rules, especially for an autumn or winter visit.
