Why go
The village lets you move between furnished period buildings rather than seeing Alberta history only behind glass. Costumed interpreters give the streets a human scale, and the steam train and S.S. Moyie add transport to the story. Several buildings were moved here, while others were reconstructed, which makes looking at their details part of the experience.
What to look for
- Costumed interpreters animate the prairie town streets.
- A steam train links parts of the historical village.
- The S.S. Moyie paddlewheeler travels on Glenmore Reservoir.
Useful to know
- Set aside a substantial part of the day for buildings, interpreters and transport.
- Check Historical Village admission separately from Gasoline Alley Museum and Heritage Plaza.
- Confirm the village's seasonal operating dates before planning a visit.
