Banteay Srei
Banteay Srei is a small red-sandstone temple north of the main Angkor circuit. Its unusually fine carving rewards close looking more than a long visit.
The compact scale lets you compare pediments, lintels and guardian figures in one circuit. Carving remains legible across the pinkish sandstone, so this is a strong stop for anyone interested in Khmer craftsmanship. Budget for the road journey rather than pairing it with too many central temples.
What to look for
Dense relief carving covers the red-sandstone surfaces.
Small sanctuaries sit within successive enclosures.
Useful to know
Allow extra travel time from the main Angkor temples.
