Bruce Peninsula National Park
On Ontario’s Bruce Peninsula, escarpment cliffs meet the clear water of Georgian Bay. Trails range widely in difficulty, so the choice between a short shore walk and a longer hike matters here.
Why go
Follow the Niagara Escarpment to see sculpted dolomite cliffs, fallen blocks beneath the water and the Grotto near the Cyprus Lake trails. The rock began as marine sediment in an ancient shallow sea; erosion later cut the caves and overhangs visible along the coast.
What to look for
Dolomite cliffs and fallen rock line Georgian Bay.
The Grotto lies near the Marr Lake and Georgian Bay trails.
The Niagara Escarpment shapes the shoreline views.
Useful to know
Choose a trail by difficulty before setting out; routes here range from easy to demanding.
Allow extra time for the Cyprus Lake shoreline if the Grotto is your main reason to visit.
