Cannes and the Lérins Islands
Cannes pairs a palm-lined bay and film-festival landmarks with the older streets of Le Suquet. The Lérins Islands add a very different, quieter outing offshore.
Start at the Palais des Festivals and follow the Croisette to understand the resort town most visitors picture. Then climb into Le Suquet for older Cannes and a view back across the waterfront. If you have more time, the Lérins Islands shift the focus from hotels and cinema to wooded paths, a fort and an abbey.
What to look for
The Croisette runs beside the bay, with beaches and landmark hotels along the waterfront.
Le Suquet rises above the port and looks back over the Croisette.
Île Sainte-Marguerite and Île Saint-Honorat lie just offshore.
Useful to know
Keep the central waterfront and Le Suquet together for a town visit.
Give an island visit its own block of time rather than treating it as another town stop.
