Nice seafront and old-town squares

Why go

This day in Nice follows a clear change of scene from the open seafront to the close streets of the old town and the harbour. From Cannes, reserve about two hours for the return train journeys as a planning allowance, with extra time for station approaches and waits; check current train times before leaving. Walk a selected stretch of the Promenade des Anglais, pause outside the Negresco, then turn inland at Place Masséna. Cours Saleya leads into Place Rossetti, where the cathedral is a worthwhile short stop if access is available. Continue to Port Lympia for boats and waterfront facades. The route is largely outdoors and rewards an unhurried pace; market activity varies. The port is optional if you prefer a shorter day.
