This selection is useful for choosing a next direction after Cape Town’s central sights. Hout Bay and Chapman’s Peak Drive belong together on the peninsula; the Cape Winelands invite a different inland trip. The Garden Route is much farther away and deserves its own onward journey.
Useful to know
Combine Hout Bay with Chapman’s Peak Drive if road conditions and travel plans allow.
Plan the Cape Winelands and Garden Route as separate regional trips.

Hout Bay is a coastal valley and neighbourhood south of central Cape Town, framed by mountains and the Atlantic. Its working harbour is the clearest starting point for a visit.
This cliffside road connects Hout Bay and Noordhoek along the western Cape Peninsula. Its appeal is the changing view of mountain, open Atlantic and the bays at either end.
