University of Cape Town
UCT’s Upper Campus sits on the slopes of Devil’s Peak. It offers a different view of Cape Town’s mountain setting, while museums and performance venues on campus have their own visiting arrangements.
Why go
The university began as the South African College in 1829, giving its campus a long educational history. A walk through the open campus can be paired with the Irma Stern Museum or Baxter Theatre, but those are distinct visits rather than automatic parts of a campus tour.
What to look for
Upper Campus sits against the slopes of Devil’s Peak.
The Irma Stern Museum and Baxter Theatre are separate cultural stops.
Useful to know
Check access to any particular building before going inside.
Plan museums or performances separately from a campus walk.
