Old Brewery Quarter
A former Brains brewery site has become a small dining and nightlife quarter around an open-air piazza. Visit for a chosen venue and the industrial setting.
The quarter puts Cardiff’s brewing past into an everyday setting rather than a museum display. Victorian brickwork survives among the converted buildings, while the piazza gives the area a different feel from neighbouring streets. It works best as a deliberate meal or evening stop.
What to look for
Victorian brickwork survives from the original Brains brewery home, established in 1882.
An open-air piazza sits among the converted brewery buildings.
Useful to know
Choose a venue and check its own opening and booking arrangements before heading into the quarter.
Combine a meal here with Caroline Street or St Mary Street rather than planning a separate sightseeing excursion.
