Why go

This day suits travelers who can manage a longer urban walk and want both fortifications and neighborhood life. Give Castillo San Felipe de Barajas the largest block of time; its scale asks for more than a quick photo. Zapatos Viejos is a short follow-up before the route crosses toward Parque del Centenario. From there, the walk tightens around Plaza de la Trinidad and the church beside it, then ends at the Pegasus pier on the bay. The link from the castle area to the park is the longest part of the day, so plan a break after the fort.
