Planning Around Catania’s Climate
Catania has hot, relatively dry summers and milder, wetter winters. That contrast matters most when choosing how much time to spend in exposed squares, gardens and archaeological sites.
A walk between Piazza del Duomo and Via Etnea can include long stretches outside, while the Roman Theatre and gardens also leave visitors exposed. Summer heat may favour shorter outdoor segments; the wetter part of the year calls for a flexible plan. Etna has different conditions from the coastal city and needs its own forecast.
Useful to know
For a hot day, shorten exposed stops in squares and gardens and keep an indoor option nearby.
For an Etna outing, check mountain weather separately from Catania’s coastal forecast.
