Why go
This compact walk suits a first visit focused on Chiang Mai’s historic temples. Wat Phra Singh gives the day a substantial opening, while Wat Chedi Luang changes the scale with its large ruined chedi. Wat Phan Tao sits close by, so it adds a quieter timber building without a long detour. Finish at Wat Chiang Man, north of the other stops, rather than zigzagging across the old city. Give each compound time for its different buildings and courtyards. The route is short enough to pause between visits, but it still involves several separate temple stops.
