Caohai Lake
Caohai is a highland wetland beside Weining in Guizhou, valued especially as a wintering place for migratory birds. Visit for the birds and marsh landscape, not a conventional lakeside circuit.
The reserve supports large numbers of wintering birds in a mountain setting. Watching the wetland from an appropriate visitor area gives more insight than treating the lake as a viewpoint alone. Bird activity changes with the season, so time your trip for the wildlife you hope to see.
