Temple of Heaven
The Temple of Heaven is a ceremonial landscape in southeastern Beijing where emperors prayed for harvests. Its halls and altars make imperial ritual visible in space.
The Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests and Circular Mound Altar show different parts of the same state ceremony. Walking between them makes the site's ordered layout easier to understand than seeing either building alone. It is a focused complement to the Forbidden City's palace courts, with grounds and enclosed monuments that may have different access.
What to look for
Look at the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests as the site's visual anchor.
Compare the open Circular Mound Altar with the enclosed hall.
Notice the deliberate spacing and alignment between ceremonial structures.
Useful to know
Plan to walk between the main hall and the Circular Mound Altar.
Check monument access separately from park access before choosing a visit time.
