Three Gorges

The Yangtze's Three Gorges form a long river corridor between Chongqing and Hubei. Start with a named gorge or river journey, since no single viewpoint represents the whole.

Three Gorges

Why go

At Qutang Gorge, the river narrows toward Kui Gate, giving a strong first view of the cliffs that define this landscape. Farther east, the route continues through different gorge settings. The region's scale makes it best approached as a river journey or a specific shore excursion rather than an add-on to a city walk.

What to look for

  • Look toward Kui Gate from the Qutang Gorge entrance near Baidi City.
  • Watch how cliff walls change the river's apparent width.
  • Compare a chosen gorge with the wider Yangtze approaches around it.

Useful to know

  • Choose a specific gorge, shore stop or river service before arranging travel.
  • Check actual route duration and embarkation points; the corridor has no shared entrance or timetable.
