Why go
Follow the village from the water uphill to San Lorenzo, whose church dates to 1338, and look back at the vines above the roofs. Those terraces connect Manarola's landscape to Cinque Terre wine, including the sweet Sciacchetrà. The short change of scene from marina to church makes the village more than a single photograph.
What to look for
- A narrow marina sits below tightly grouped, colorful houses.
- San Lorenzo church and its square bell tower stand above the harbor.
- Vineyard terraces climb the slope behind the village.
Useful to know
- Walk from the marina toward San Lorenzo to see both the coastal and hillside sides of Manarola.
- Expect steps and inclines between the station, waterfront and upper streets.
- Check current access rules before planning a walk to Riomaggiore on Via dell’Amore.
