Capodistrias Museum
Visit the Kapodistrias family's country estate at Koukouritsa to understand Ioannis Capodistrias, Greece's first governor. The house, personal objects and garden make this a quieter stop outside Corfu Town.
Why go
Capodistrias's story links Corfu's aristocratic world to the first years of the Greek state. He spent part of his youth at the family's retreat, and the museum uses portraits, objects and period furnishings to give that political history a domestic setting. The estate grounds add context that a town-centre display could not provide.
What to look for
The family house at Koukouritsa places Capodistrias's life in a country-estate setting.
Portraits and personal objects connect him with the early Greek state.
The garden extends the visit beyond the rooms.
Useful to know
Plan this as a separate trip to Evropouli rather than an Old Town walking stop.
Check the museum's current visiting arrangements before travelling to the estate.
