Why go
The pale stone façade and paired gateways make the palace one of the clearest traces of British rule in Corfu Town. Built for the Lord High Commissioner, it also served the Ionian Senate before becoming a royal residence. Stand back in the Spianada to read its scale, then decide separately whether to visit the museum collection.
What to look for
- The Regency-style façade faces the open Spianada.
- The gates of St. Michael and St. George frame the palace's front.
- The building's position links the Old Town with the Old Fortress side of the square.
Useful to know
- View the palace exterior from the Spianada before moving into the Old Town.
- For the rooms and Asian art collection, plan a separate Museum of Asian Art visit and check its timetable.
